Library Clerk (Part-time)
The Bedford Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, flexible, customer service oriented person to join our circulation team. The candidate will work in the adult circulation area and occasionally in the children’s circulation area. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
ü Answering the phone.
ü Checking out books.
ü Taking reserves and requests from patrons.
ü Helping patrons locate materials.
ü Shelving books and other materials.
The part-time position is for 17-21 hours per week, including 1 evening per week and weekends in rotation with opportunities to substitute for others. Tentative schedule:
· Monday 3:00 p.m.-8:45 p.m.
· Tuesday 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
· Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:15 p.m.
· 3 weekend days per month:
o Saturdays 10:00 a.m.-2:15 p.m. and
o Sundays 1:00 p.m.-5:15 p.m. (Sept.-May)
Applicants must have proficient computer skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, possess a friendly professional demeanor and enjoy working with the public with a commitment to great customer service. College degree and prior library experience is preferred.
