Health Inspector (Part-time)

SUMMARY:

The Health Inspector is a member of the Bedford Building and Fire Departments who conducts health related inspections and investigations at the direction of Building Code Official and the Captain of Fire Prevention.

 TYPICAL DUTIES:

ü  Performs plan reviews and conducts inspections of new and existing food service establishments and coordinates and conducts inspections of new and existing public bathing facilities on a regular basis.

ü  Performs plan review of septic systems, conducts basal inspections per the State of NH regulations. Investigates septic related complaints.

ü  Investigates complaints regarding food service establishments and determines appropriate action.

ü  Conducts Childcare and Foster Care inspections per state licensing requirements.

ü  Investigates acute environmental health concerns & manage through to proper authority.

ü  Develops and implements food service training programs for local food service personnel.

ü  Assists with Building and Fire inspections as needed.

ü  Liaison to Greater Manchester Health Network, the State of NH DHHS, and NH Food Protection Bureau.

ü  Prepares written findings and correspondence regarding compliance determinations, reports of compliance and enforcement, issues actions, activity reports, and other reports and correspondence as needed.

ü  May be required to participate in fire department emergency management activities. 

ü  Manages social media messaging and website development for the Health Division.

ü  Maintains positive professional relationships with all community partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

ü  Experience in the food service or environmental health field.

ü  High School Diploma (College Degree preferred), technical course work in environmental health or sanitary production and distribution of food.

ü  A valid driver’s license.

ü  A Servsafe Manager Certificate & Certified Pool Operator  (within one year of employment).

ü   (within one year of employment).

ü  IT products to include Microsoft Office, MUNIS and Docstar experience preferred.

ü  Online research of emerging industry products and processes

ü  Professional in-person, telephone, and written communication skills.

ü  Ability to work independently while exercising good judgment, attention to detail, and customer service consistent with the Town’s expectations.
