Accountant
Full Time Accountant
SCHEDULE:
- 40hrs/week, Monday - Friday, 8:00-4:00
WAGES:
- Labor Grade 11 – $34.06 - $49.32 (max) Starting wage depending on qualifications
DUTIES:
- This position performs highly skilled accounting, clerical and administrative work in assisting the Finance Director in maintaining the Town’s accounting system and financial reporting.
- Responsible for the management and control of town financial transactions, general ledger, policies and systems of control, and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Analyzes and reconciles cash accounts, assets (receivables) and liabilities (payables) monthly, including maintaining accounts for returned items and records of uncollected assets, including ambulance revenue and credit card transactions.
- Advises the Finance Director on policies, procedures and processes for developing and maintaining systems of control, utilizing the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) updates, and GAAP accounting procedures.
- Prepares financial statements for annual report, bonding, and other periods as may require. Prepares year-end documents for the annual audit, and applicable single audits including preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, public administration, finance or related field.
- Five (5) years’ experience in public sector finance, or an equivalent and relevant combination of education and experience.
