Certified Building Inspector/Code Enforcement (Part-time)
The Town of Gilmanton is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Land Use Department within the Selectmen’s Office.
Certified Building Inspector/ Code Enforcement position is 10-15 hour per week, pay range $20-25 per hr. based on experience, plus mileage.
This position performs responsible functions of a complex and technical nature involving the exercise of considerable judgment in the application and interpretation of building codes and other regulations. Reviews applications and plans for building construction and compliance with State and Local Building Code, perform inspections of building at different phases of construction and renovation, conducts periodic inspections relating to safety conditions. Reviews reports, respond to complaints of violations, issues stop work orders, and signs off on certificates of occupancy.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skill:
- Knowledge of State and local building code, ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and plans. Ability to interpret and enforce regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
- Preferable Certification:
- IRC- international residential code Building inspector certification.
- ICC International commercial code building inspector certification.
- With knowledge of electric, plumbing, and gas code.
