Road Agent

The Town of Deerfield is seeking a full-time Road Agent.  The Road Agent establishes short and long-range plans, goals, objectives, policies, regulations, and procedures based upon the road needs of the town and the department. Oversees and manages the highway department, including supervising employees, coordination of and construction management, and ensuring the maintenance and repair of town roads, culverts, and equipment. 

 

This position reports directly to the Board of Selectmen while working under the general supervision of the Town Administrator.  Performs duties with a great degree of independence, exercising judgment and excellent interpersonal communication skills in working with the public and Town staff. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five to seven years of successful year-round highway maintenance experience with progressive supervisory experience; preferably with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or related field desirable; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of these required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must have and maintain a valid CDL NH driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to take and pass random drug testing.
  • Residence shall be within a reasonable response time of no more than 30 minutes to the Town of Deerfield.
