Electrical Inspector

Job Description

Grade 18

General Statement of Duties

Performs inspections pertaining to Electrical Code related standards; performs inspections of existing licensed or certified facilities for compliance with applicable standards; performs inspections on buildings and structures under construction to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and ordinances related to the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment in both commercial and residential applications; investigates complaints of code violations; provides needed information to applicants in both verbal and written format and maintains clear and concise records; performs directly related work as required.

Acceptable Experience and Training

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in Electrical technology (Industrial); and
  • Considerable experience as an apprentice electrician with training as an inspector or related work; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Required Special Qualifications

  • New Hampshire driver's license;
  • Master Electrician License;
  • Certification by the International Code Council and/or the National Fire Protection Association for Electrical Plan Review within 6 months of hire;
  • Certification for Electrical General and One & Two Family Dwelling by the International Code Council and/or the National Fire Protection Association within 6 months of hire.
