2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the passage of Part 2, Article 5-B of the New Hampshire Constitution that authorized the assessment of “any class of real estate at valuations based upon the current use thereof”. After nearly 5 decades, New Hampshire’s Current Use Program is well established in statute, case law and practice – but continues to evolve as modern-day issues arise.

Join Current Use Board member and Chief Tri-Town Assessor Norm Bernaiche, along with Barbara Reid, NHMA Government Finance Advisor and former Current Use Board Chair, as they review the history of Current Use, explain operational aspects of the program, including the roles and responsibilities of landowners, assessors and the Current Use Board, and discuss the relevancy of recent court decisions and other matters that may warrant further consideration by Current Use stakeholders.
