Town Planner / MS4 Coordinator
The Town of Milford, NH, is seeking a full-time qualified and creative Town Planner / MS4 Coordinator. This multi-faceted role will be responsible for land-use planning and environmental programs on behalf of the Office of Community Development. This high profile and diverse position manages the Town’s land use permitting and application process, provides support to the Planning Board and implements the Town Master plan land-use regulations. The position provides guidance / recommendations to development community, property owners and the general public on Town regulations, policies, and land use information. The Town Planner / MS4 Coordinator also initiates and develops short- and long-range land use policies, regulatory changes, and zoning amendments and will have responsibility for the management of the Town’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit program.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in urban, city, and/or environmental planning and four years of related experience in municipal planning. Master’s Degree in urban and regional planning and related experience is preferred. Extensive knowledge of land use and environmental planning principles and practices, as well as state and local land use legislation, procedures, codes, standards for development, and zoning issues is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
Candidates should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local, regional, and state officials, the general public, employees, developers, and consultants. Ideally the person in this role must be customer-service oriented and thrive in a team environment. Knowledge of surveying, environmental and engineering principals is an absolute plus! The position reports to the Director of Community Development and is part of a progressive team that includes community development, building and code enforcement, environmental programs, and conservation.
