Recycler I/Gate Attendant (Part-time)

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the operation of the computerized scale system to track inbound and outbound material to the landfill and recycling/transfer station.

• Maintain the backup log system to track inbound and outbound material to the landfill and recycling center.

• Provide directions to users of the construction and demolition debris drop-off area, scrap metal drop-off area, compost and brush drop-off area, public drop-off area and other solid waste services for those who have brought items and materials in for disposal.

• Conduct non-cash business transactions with customers.

• Assist customers providing information regarding disposal standards or requirements.

• Frequent public contact and customer education required.

• Other recycling duties as required.

Pay and Benefits:

During the probationary period, the pay rate for this position ranges from $16.09- $17.57 per hour.  Upon successful completion of the probationary period, this position will move to the regular pay schedule which consists of pay steps and hourly rates ranging from $17.79- $21.21 per hour.  The City of Keene also offers part-time regular employees the following benefits: earned time, a retirement plan and employee discounts!

This position offers you 21-24 hours per week with a schedule as follows: Thursday-Saturday 7am-3pm Memorial Day- Labor Day.  Remainder of the year schedule is Thursday- Friday 7am-3pm and Saturday 8am- 1pm. 

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  State of NH Weighmaster License required to obtain within three months of employment.  Customer-focused experience is preferred.  The employee will frequently lift and/or move 10-25 lbs and occasionally 75-100 lbs.
