General Statement of Duties

Manages Police records operations; performs directly related work as required.

Examples of Essential Work

  • Serves as the office manager within Police records procedures, including supervising, training, evaluating and coordinating the work of Police Records Specialist in the maintaining of all official Police records;
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of all records used in law enforcement operations;
  • Prepares cases of complaints for District Court and coordinates with Court Officials and the Prosecutor’s personnel for the arraignment of trial paperwork;
  • Resolves problems arising from electronically archiving large volumes and amount of materials;
  • Maintains and orders supplies used in Police records activities;
  • Personally handles situations and public requests of a more difficult nature;
  • Types and electronically archives incident offense reports, subpoenas, arrests, accidents, citations, tow in/drive reports and related matters according to prescribed procedures and guidelines;
  • Ensures the completeness and accuracy of all materials to be archived;
  • Performs other duties of Police Records Specialists as necessary;
  • Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar class of positions; and more.

Acceptable Experience and Training

  • Graduation from High School or possession of a GED, preferably supplemented by additional training in office management; and
  • Extensive experience in Police records operations; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Required Special Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a background check.
