Police Officers (Full- and Part-time)

The Town of Rumney is seeking intelligent, motivated applicants for the position of a Full-time and Part-time Police Officer.  The Rumney Police Department delivers quality, Community Based Policing in active partnership with the citizens we serve. We are seeking career and community oriented individuals who desire to be part of a professional department. The Town offers a benefits package and wages are compensated based on experience. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The police officer shall be responsible for the enforcement of the applicable laws of the State of New Hampshire and applicable ordinances of the Town of Rumney. He/She shall patrol the Town of Rumney, regulate traffic, investigate, and report criminal acts when discovered, investigate accidents, and file appropriate reports as prescribed by Departmental Rules, Regulations, Procedures, and/or superior officers. He/She shall also be responsible for other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Applicants shall be at least 21 years of age by the date of appointment.

Must possess a high school diploma (preferred secondary education and/or Military experience)

The applicant must not have any physical, mental, and/or medical impairments which would interfere with the ability to perform the essential functions of a police officer.

Applicants shall not have a criminal record or serious motor vehicle record.

Applicants shall meet all qualifying standards as set forth by the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council.

LATERAL APPLICANT:

NH PSTC Full or Part-time Course within the past 12 months

OUT OF STATE CANDIDATES must have minimum 2 years of Full-time sworn experience

APPLICATION PROCESS

In order to be considered for employment, each applicant is required to complete the following stages. An applicant who does not pass one of these stages will not be eligible to participate in testing after that point. The Rumney Police Department can alter this process at any time; this summary is intended to serve as a guideline and not a guarantee of the testing procedure for any given process.

Applicants will be required to pass:

Written Examination (NH fulltime certified candidates are waived for this),

 Physical Agility Eval,

 Oral Boards,

 Executive Interview,

Background Investigation,

Conditional Offer,

Medical Exam/ Drug Test,

Psychological Eval

Polygraph Exam  

Successful applicants not yet certified, MUST graduate from the New Hampshire Police Standards Training Academy, and serve a probationary period of one year.
