Permit Technician I

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Building Safety Manager, the Permit Technician I will perform administrative duties to support the operation of the Department of Building Safety and will provide permit related requirements and information to internal and external customers. Responsibilities include processing applications, issuing permits, collecting fees and conducting monetary transactions, collecting Certified Plot Plans, and other duties as assigned. The position also provides occasional support to other departments within the Community Development Division. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm, is part of the UAW Clerical & Technical Unit, and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is grade 8, with an hourly rate not to exceed $19.64.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a minimum of six (6) months relevant work experience and possess a High School diploma or certified equivalent
  • Strong customer service skills and proficiency in the use of personal computers and software necessary to complete the requirements of this position
  • Must be able to effectively complete routine tasks with limited supervision
