Operator I - Wastewater Division

The Town of Merrimack is accepting applications for the full-time position of Operator I for the Department of Public Works – Wastewater Division. This is skilled work in the operation of a sewage treatment plant or pumping stations on an assigned shift. Work involves responsibility for the operation and servicing of pumps, air compressors, chlorinators, and other appurtenances at a treatment plant or pumping stations. Performs custodial and maintenance work as it relates to the cleanliness, elimination of rust and general upkeep of plant facilities and equipment.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, accurately follow operating and recording procedures, and detect faulty operation characteristics in equipment or processes and institute remedial action. State of New Hampshire requires that employees in this position acquire a minimum of NHDES Operator I certification.

Starting wage is $19.26 – 20.31/hr., DOE, plus a great benefits package. Wage increase after successful 6 month trial period. Normal hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Health, life, and short-term disability insurance premiums are currently 100% employer paid. Includes paid vacation, sick, & personal leave, and participation in the New Hampshire Retirement System.
