Reporting to the Director of Public Works, this position is responsible for Public Works’ utilization of GIS related hardware, software, and databases. To ensure effective, efficient use of GIS programs and applications by DPW staff, the incumbent instructs, trains, and supports Engineering, Surveying, and other DPW end users in all GIS applications, including ERSI ArcMap and ArcView; and in starting new data collection projects and GIS initiatives. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining and expanding DPW’s GIS databases, and will participate in the Nashua Board of Public Works Retirement System.
Bachelors of Science Degree in Geography/Cartography, Civil Engineering, Computer Science or related field plus three to five years of relevant experience is required. This position requires initiative, close attention to detail, and the ability to make decisions and complete assignments independently. Knowledge of engineering, an analytical understanding of public works infrastructure, and proficient knowledge of ESRI ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro, including AGOL applications is required. Experience with Cartegraph and CivicGOV or similar asset management and permitting applications is preferred.
