The Town of Stratham, New Hampshire (population 7,600) is seeking an experienced candidate to serve as Finance Administrator. Stratham is located in the Seacoast region of the state, along the Squamscott River and Great Bay and minutes from the New Hampshire coastline. Located 50 miles north of Boston, MA and 30 miles east of Manchester, NH it is accessible to the myriad of cultural, educational and recreational resources of the Northeast. Stratham residents are proud of the Town’s quality of life, “close knit” feel and excellent schools as well as its highly regarded municipal services, including park and recreational offerings.
The Finance Administrator is responsible for overseeing all financial reporting requirements, budget development and monitoring; coordinating all finance related functions of the Town, including procurement, financial analysis and creating and adhering to long-term financial strategies and policies; and assisting the Town Administrator in the general administration of the Town. The position, under the direct supervision of the Town Administrator, is also responsible for information technology; overseeing human resource functions, records, and information; and managing employee benefits and insurances. The Town’s annual budget is approximately $9 million and its total property valuation equals $1.6 billion; the Town operates under the New Hampshire Town Meeting form of government. The Finance function of the Town includes an appointed Town Treasurer as well as a 24 hour-per week Accounting and Benefits Coordinator. The candidate would join a senior management team, which includes a combination of experienced leaders as well as several new additions in senior roles.
The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university with a major study in accounting, business administration, or related field plus at least five (5) years of progressively-responsible experience in governmental finance, accounting and audit work, plus at least 2 years of supervisory experience; or any combination of education and experience demonstrating possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Demonstrated knowledge of integrated computer accounting systems and general ledger maintenance and analysis and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software required. Experience with Accufund accounting software and DRA Municipal Tax Rate Setting Portal (MTRSP) is desirable.
