Town of Alton - EXECUTIVE SECRETARY. The Town of Alton is accepting resumes for the position of Executive Secretary at the Town Hall in the Administration Department/Board of Selectmen’s Office.
The chosen applicant must demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in all aspects of the office to include computer software skills, office equipment, and verbal communications with the public and in-house. The ability to handle the public with courtesy as the first person someone from the public sees when arriving at the Selectmen’s Office. A few of the duties include working closely with the Town Administrator; welfare management as the Welfare Officer; Heidke Caregiver oversight involving Caregivers and clients; Creating the first draft of the Selectmen’s meeting agenda; Prep work for each Selectmen’s meeting; Creating the Selectmen’s minutes; Receiving and processing other Board minutes for posting; Research of projects or history; some oversight of the second Secretarial position in the office in order for coverage; Being cognizant of deadlines on documents an projects; Processing or ensuring the processing of numerous types of documents that come in and must be sent out such as contracts, letters, memos, etc. For a full list of duties and responsibilities please see the Job Description.

This position is the Executive Secretary to the Town Administrator and the Board of Selectmen, and as such must be efficient and trustworthy with confidential or sensitive matters.
Qualities needed include being a team player, a positive attitude, a good work ethic, multi-task capabilities, organization, and working well with others.
This position works Monday through Thursday, 8 hours per day, 8:00am – 4:30pm, 32 hours per week with evening hours to cover attendance at the Selectmen’s meetings in order to take the minutes. A flex schedule is used during a week when there is a Selectmen’s meeting. The position comes with a partial benefits package, which includes pro-rated benefits such as medical insurance, dental insurance, vacation time, holiday pay, sick leave, etc.
