FULL-TIME DISPATCHER
The Plaistow Police Department Communications Center is seeking applicants for Full-Time Public Safety Dispatcher. This frontline position provides a valuable service to the public as the first contact for those in need of police, fire, or emergency medical services. This position requires someone with strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast paced (and sometimes, high stress environment), and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Excellent verbal, written, and keyboarding skills are essential. Candidates must have the ability to maintain professional working relationships with other agencies and the ability to focus on the expectations required of the position. Candidates must have the availability to work any shift within a 24-hour period, including some holidays and weekends.
Applicants for this position must be at least 21 years old, have no criminal record, possess a High School Diploma or equivalent (Associates Degree preferred), possess a valid driver’s license, and must be a U.S. citizen. Previous experience in dispatching is preferred.
Applicants are required to complete a professional interview and medical exam including a drug screen, as well as an extensive background investigation including a criminal records check.
