Children's Library Assistant (Part-time)
Manage children’s services creating programs and developing collections. Provide occasional back-up at the circulation desk.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop weekly story times and other programs drawing upon your interests and abilities that meet the needs and interests of patrons.
- Connect with schools and area organizations.
- Create and manage summer reading program as assigned.
- Order materials.
- Assist in Catalog of materials.
- Repair and re-label older items as needed.
- Shelve.
- Assist at Front Desk with patron check-outs and library account registrations.
- Work one night per week and every third Saturday.
- Reply to patron questions in-person, via phone, email, or Facebook.
- Assist patrons with public computer and WIFI use.
- Assist patrons with library technologies, including NovelList, OverDrive, Hoopla and online catalog.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and orderly library.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent and one to three years’ library experience required. College degree preferred. A comprehensive knowledge of modern library principles, methods and procedures is required as is experience working with children.
Pay rate $19.86 - $24.23. DOQ
