Children's Library Assistant (Part-time)

Manage children’s services creating programs and developing collections. Provide occasional back-up at the circulation desk.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •       Develop weekly story times and other programs drawing upon your interests and abilities that meet the needs and interests of patrons.
  •         Connect with schools and area organizations.
  •        Create and manage summer reading program as assigned.
  •        Order materials.
  •        Assist in Catalog of materials.
  •        Repair and re-label older items as needed.
  •        Shelve.
  •        Assist at Front Desk with patron check-outs and library account registrations.
  •        Work one night per week and every third Saturday.
  •        Reply to patron questions in-person, via phone, email, or Facebook.
  •        Assist patrons with public computer and WIFI use.
  •        Assist patrons with library technologies, including NovelList, OverDrive, Hoopla and online catalog.
  •        Contribute to maintaining a clean and orderly library.
  •        Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent and one to three years’ library experience required. College degree preferred. A comprehensive knowledge of modern library principles, methods and procedures is required as is experience working with children.

Pay rate $19.86 - $24.23. DOQ
