Chief of Operations- Fire Department
The purpose of this position is the proper and efficient operation of the emergency services and training divisions. The incumbent supervises and directs staff; plans and directs emergency response activities; administers an ALS ambulance service; conducts training; develops and implements promotional and hiring examinations; and performs administrative duties as assigned. Work is performed under the direction of the Fire Chief.
The Hours of Duty shall be based upon forty- (40) hour work week, five (5) work days, eight (8) hours per day. This position must also participate in the chief officer on-call rotation schedule.
Benefits and other terms and conditions of employment are governed by an employment agreement (contract) between the Fire Commission and the Employee. Except as otherwise contained in the agreement, the employee’s benefits will follow those established in the agreement currently in place between the City of Portsmouth and the Professional Management Association.
