Accounting & Benefits Coordinator

The Town of Stratham, New Hampshire (population 7,600) is seeking an Accounting & Benefits Coordinator to coordinate the payroll, human resource and accounting functions of the Town.  Stratham is located in the Seacoast region of the state and lies  along the Squamscott River and Great Bay.  Stratham residents are proud of the Town’s quality of life, “close knit” feel and excellent schools as well as its highly regarded municipal services, including park and recreational offerings.

The successful candidate will join a recently reorganized finance administration structure.  The Accounting & Benefits Coordinator is a reconfigured position who will report to the Finance Administrator who leads and directs the accounting, finance, human resources and information technology functions.  This coordinator position is responsible for the performance and coordination of the Town-wide payroll process, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance and benefits administration.  The benefits coordination duties include maintenance of human resource files, records, and information and administration of employee benefits and insurances. The position assists the Finance Administrator with annual budget preparation, monitoring, and recording transactions and assists with the coordination of the annual audit. Varied related bookkeeping and clerical work products is required under minimum supervision.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration or related field; three to five years of progressively responsible experience in professional, municipal accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Prior municipal experience is preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge of integrated computer accounting systems and general ledger maintenance and analysis and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software required. Experience with Accufund accounting software and DRA Municipal Tax Rate Setting Portal (MTRSP) is desirable. 

The salary range is between $40,000 and $50,000 with a highly competitive benefit package.
