Assessor I

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for assessment and appraisal of real property in accordance with pertinent legislation, code and ordinance; draw detailed sketch and calculate square footage of property improvements; perform interior inspections; calculate property values utilizing CAMA Systems and city computer software; conduct research and property analysis of all property; process request for abatements; research and evaluate taxpayer concerns. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, is part of the UAW Professional Bargaining Unit and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is grade 11, with a hourly rate not to exceed $23.83.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Associate’s degree plus a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess a valid driver's license 
  • Must participate in continued education course relevant to work assignment
  • Ability to acquire/complete the following within one year of date of employment: USPAP, IAAO Courses 1 & 2 or Appraisal Institute’s Course 101
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered
